A professional goal I have for myself would be to always continue to learn and grow as an education. I think it is very important as educator we continue to develop ourselves and be open minded to learning new teaching strategies to use in the classroom. I have identified this need after attending a few training with not so open minded teachers. Some of their opinions and views can sometimes be negative and I try to stay away from those negative thoughts. I like to attend training and learn strategies that can help with my student's learning. The actions I will take is to attend any possible district professional development that has to do with history or involves teaching strategies. I will also continue to use Kagan structures in my classroom and try to develop new curriculum using those structures.
I plan to continue working in collaboration with my appropriate PLC at school and commit to reflect upon my teaching methods weekly. I also plan to attend professional developments outside of school that are relevant to my content area.
I think in order to sustain the energy in my classroom I have to be able to use my own curriculum and continue teaching in themes. I will make the lessons my own develop adaptations as needed.

My advice to new teachers is to make it a priority to get to know the students interests and use them as a way to intrigue them about the content. Be respectful and considerate to students and you will receive the same.
